Methodology & editorial policy
Exactly where our numbers come from, how often they update, and the rules we follow when we write about immigration.
Express Entry draws
We read IRCC's official rounds-of-invitations data feed (JSON) every hour. Every number on a draw page — date, round type, invitations, minimum CRS, tie-breaking time, and pool distribution — comes straight from that feed. If canada.ca is unreachable we show the last verified snapshot. Our only transformation is grouping round names into categories (for example "Healthcare and social services occupations (Version 2)" → Healthcare).
Provincial nominee draws
Provincial draws are extracted from each province's official program page (ontario.ca, welcomebc.ca, alberta.ca, saskatchewan.ca, immigratemanitoba.com) with parsers that keep the published wording. We never estimate a missing number: if a province says "less than 10" invitations, we show exactly that. Each draw links to its source.
CRS calculator
The calculator implements IRCC's published CRS criteria and the November 3, 2026 changes, including the Labour Market Integration factor and the high-wage occupations list. We test it against hand-calculated reference profiles every time the rules change. It runs entirely in your browser. Your official score is the one in your IRCC profile.
Language conversions
CLB and NCLC conversions use IRCC's published equivalency charts for IELTS General Training, CELPIP-General, PTE Core, TEF Canada (post-December 10, 2023 scale) and TCF Canada.
Editorial standards
- Every factual claim links to an official government source.
- We say "estimate" wherever something is an estimate, and we never predict future cut-offs as fact.
- We don't tell anyone they are eligible, which program to choose, or how to answer forms — that is regulated advice.
- We don't take referral fees from consultants or lawyers.
- Pages show a "last reviewed" date, and we update guides when IRCC changes rules.
