Quick answer
To qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program you need at least 67 out of 100 points across six factors: language (max 28), education (25), work experience (15), age (12), arranged employment (10) and adaptability (10). You also need CLB 7 in all four abilities and at least one year of continuous skilled work.
The six selection factors
| Factor | Max | How points are given |
|---|---|---|
| Language | 28 | Per ability in first language: CLB 9+ = 6, CLB 8 = 5, CLB 7 = 4. Second language CLB 5+ in all four = 4. |
| Education | 25 | Secondary 5 · 1-year 15 · 2-year 19 · 3+ year/bachelor's 21 · two+ credentials 22 · master's 23 · PhD 25 |
| Experience | 15 | 1 year 9 · 2–3 years 11 · 4–5 years 13 · 6+ years 15 |
| Age | 12 | 18–35 = 12, then one point less per year to 46 = 1; 47+ = 0 |
| Arranged employment | 10 | Valid full-time job offer of 1+ year in TEER 0–3 |
| Adaptability | 10 | Spouse language, Canadian study or work (you or spouse), arranged employment, relative in Canada — capped at 10 |
Once you pass, your Express Entry rank is decided by a separate score — calculate your CRS score. If you have Canadian work experience you may qualify for the Canadian Experience Class instead, which has no points grid. FSW applicants without a job offer also need proof of funds.

Frequently asked questions
Is the FSW 67 points the same as the CRS score?+
No. The 67-point grid only decides whether you are eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. Once in the pool you are ranked by your CRS score, which IRCC scores out of 1,270 since November 3, 2026.
What is the minimum language score for FSW?+
CLB 7 in all four abilities (speaking, listening, reading, writing) in your first official language. Below CLB 7 in any ability means you are not eligible.
Can I get FSW points without a job offer?+
Yes. Arranged employment is only 10 of 100 points; most applicants pass 67 through language, education, experience and age.
